CHANGE OF NAME IN THE PASSPORT
The following cases are to be considered as name change:-
(i) Married woman wishing to revert to maiden name when not divorced or Widowed
(ii) Change of name upon attaining adulthood from childhood
(ii) Minor change in name and
(iv) Change/addition of surname

(Applicant with temporary residents and visitors/tourists from India or third country - original newspaper announcement announcing change of name, published in two leading daily newspapers. One newspaper should be of area of applicant's permanent address in India and the other of the area of his present address in Sweden/Latvia. Publishing should be in English. E-paper announcement aren’t acceptable. (Applicant and their dependent family members who are on long term permanent or work visa/permit may submit two public documents issued by the local government/local school/educational institution where the student is enrolled along with proof of work visa/Permit)
CHANGE OF NAME FOLLOWING A MARRIAGE
Upon marriage, if the Indian women citizens wish to change their names (change of given name or change/addition of surname), they can do so by following a procedure of submitting the following documents with the Embassy:

Self – attested Marriage Certificate issued by Registrar of Marriage (attested by the Home Department of concerned State Government and then by the Consular Division in the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi). If issued in Sweden/Latvia, the marriage certificate should be duly apostilled. Marriage certificate in Latvian should be translated in English.
