Urban Transport infrastructure and services have emerged as a major sector requiring urgent attention to improve urban mobility and livability in cities. In order to create awareness about the importance of Urban Mobility and to disseminate up-to-date information, Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India has institutionalized an annual conference cum exhibition on urban mobility called “Urban Mobility India" (UMI). The 9th Urban Mobility India, with theme of “Planning Mobility for City’s Sustainability”, will be held between 8 and 11 November 2016 at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar in Gujarat.
The event has substantially grown since its first edition in the year 2008. The 8th edition held between 24 and 27 November 2015 in New Delhi was attended by around 1200 delegates and 24 exhibitors that included delegates/exhibitors from 25 countries.
The primary objective of the conference is to disseminate information to the cities, whose officials attend the conference, and to help them remain up-to-date with best urban transport practices. The conference provides an opportunity for key decision makers and delegates to interact with other professionals, experts, academia, industry, civil society, technology, service providers and other stake holders in Urban Transport both domestic and international so that the delegates can carry home ideas to develop their urban transport along a sustainable path. It is also a forum to discuss key issues relevant to the sector and suggest measures to address them.
