ADVISORY AGAINST FRAUDULENT TELEPHONE CALLS
Embassy of India, Stockholm has received a complaint on 29 Nov 2018 regarding a fraudulent telephone call in which the person is asked to deposit a certain amount for rectifying an error in his travel or residence document. Some personal information was also quoted by the caller.
It must be remembered that such information like phone number, email ID etc is at many times used by us for filling up various forms and may be available on social networking sites. It may also be noted that a telephone number allotted to Embassy of India, Stockholm is being used for this purpose. While concerned authorities in Sweden have been informed about this, all are advised to be alert against such a call and not to make any payment or divulge personal data when asked by the caller.
It may be recalled that on 18th June 2016 and 24th September 2017, this Embassy had alerted against such incidents in other countries of Europe. Once again, all are advised to be careful about such calls. In case of any doubt, you may directly call following officers of the Embassy:
