This is in continuation of my mail dated 11th March, 2020 regarding restrictions for travel to India due to outbreak of Coronavirus COVID-19.
2. In this regard, please find attached the Travel Advisory issued on 12th March, 2020 by the Bureau of Immigration, New Delhi.
Important points to be noted:
- Visas for all categories other than diplomatic, official UN/International Organizations, employment, project visas, will be issued only in compelling cases with the prior approval of the competent authorities.
- OCI cardholders will be issued fresh visa only in compelling cases. Minor children (OCI cardholders) of Indian nationals will also be covered under compelling case category. Compelling cases will include serious medical emergencies, unavoidable business meetings, death/serious injury of a family member in India, important sporting or such event etc. A copy of the Regular Visa Form is attached herewith.
- With reference to Para (v) of the advisory, it is clarified that Foreigners/Indian nationals transiting through airports (no immigration stamp of the concerned transit country) of any of the 7 countries will not be subjected to mandatory quarantine.
- Foreigners/Indian nationals transiting India (through airports) from any country will not be subjected to quarantine in India.
